We consider vector-valued functions, with components which are entire functions, for growth problems. All such functions, when they satisfy a class of differential equations, are of bounded index and exponential type, and their components are also of bounded index

Coexistence of analytic and distributional solutions for linear differential equations, II

    Get PDF
AbstractDistributional solutions for certain classes of ordinary differential and functional differential equations are presented as infinite series of the delta function and its derivatives. Particular attention is given to the confluent hypergeometric equation. Existence and non-existence theorems in spaces of infinite-order distributions are obtained for linear equations with polynomial coefficients and used to explore their entire solutions

    — In this paper, a multiband monopole antenna has been proposed for mobile applications. The monopole antenna has simple structure with a physical size of 15 cm × 7 cm. The antenna consists of monopole shape loaded by a set of folded arms with a varying length which lead to a better impedance matching result and multiband performance. The simulated results show that the proposed antenna provide multiband frequency operation of 0.8 GHz, 1.8 GHz 2.1 GHz, 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz which covers the range from 0 to 4 GHz. The antenna is designed to operate at sub-6 GHz which proposed as lower frequency band to deliver 5G in early stage. The designed antenna has been fabricated and measured to validate the simulated results. RF Coaxial U.FL Connector was used as the port connector. The measurement results agrees well with the simulated ones for all frequency bands

Crowd simulations have many benefits over real-life research such as in computer games, architecture and entertainment. One of the key elements in this study is to include elements of decision-making into the crowd. The aim of this simulator is to simulate the features of an intelligent agent to escape from crowded environments especially in one-way corridor, two-way corridor and four-way intersection. The addition of the graphical user interface enables intuitive and fast handling in all settings and features of the Intelligent Agent Simulator and allows convenient research in the field of intelligent behaviour in massive crowd. This paper describes the development of a simulator by using the Open Graphics Library (OpenGL), starting from the production of training data, the simulation process, until the simulation results. The Social Force Model (SFM) is used to generate the motion of agents and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to predict the next step for intelligent agent

The broad objective of this study is Performance Evaluation and Competitive Analysis of state owned commercial banks in Bangladesh. This paper finds the development and growth of state owned commercial banks in Bangladesh. Secondary data was used for the research. The study reveals all the state owned commercial banks in Bangladesh are not able to achieve a stable growth, net profit, earning per Share, return on equity, return on assets, net asset value per share but they are capable to achieve a stable growth of deposit, loan and advances, equity. It is also observed that all the of state owned commercial banks have high non performing loan/classified loan and % of classified loan to total loan is very high. Employees of all state owned commercial banks are negative growth. Trend equations have been tested for different activities of the state owned commercial Banks. Positive growth was found in deposit, assets and expense while negative trend was found in number of employees. In case of non performing loan and % of classified loan positive trend was found in Sonali Bank Limited and Rupali Bank Limited while negative trend was in Janata Bank Limited and Agrani Bank Limited. Square of correlation coefficient (r2) has also been tested for all trend equations. The r2 of branches, employees, deposit, assets are more than 0.5. It indicates that the prospects of these indicators of state owned commercial banks are bright. All other indicators like net profit after tax, earnings per share, non performing loan, and % of classified loan to total loan r2 are not more than 0.5 for all banks. It proves that all state owned commercial banks do not achieve these indicators during the period of 2005-2009

Several reports and databases on genomic variants have associated variation in DNA sequences (≥ 1kb), or copy number variation (CNV), with susceptibility to common diseases. However, very few reports are found on hypertension and no study has been reported on CNV in prehypertensive and hypertensive young adult Malaysians. In this comparative cross-sectional study, 133 young adults were recruited, comprising of normotensive (45 subjects), prehypertensive (40 subjects) and mild hypertensive (48 subjects) subjects. DNA for CNV determination was extracted from 3 ml of blood samples collected. CNV esv27061 was analysed using optimized droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) method which has enhanced sensitivity and precision. Frequency distribution patterns of CNV among mild hypertensives showed highest peak copy-number-gain (number of copies more than 2) particularly in copy numbers 3 and 5. The prehypertensive subjects exhibited marked increase in copy number 5 when compared with normotensives. All the subjects in this study showed low frequency distribution pattern for copy numbers 2, 6 and 7. This discovery emphasizes the importance of frequency patterns in determining CNV status of prehypertensive and mild hypertensive subjects. Optimization method in this study showed that the detection of CNV esv27061 is possible in our sample population

Salt stress induces genotype-specific DNA hypomethylation in ZmEXPB2 and ZmXET1 genes in maize

    Get PDF
Maize, a moderately salt sensitive crop, first experiences osmotic stress that cause reduction in plant growth under salt stress. Fluctuation in cell wall elongation is one of the reasons of this reduction. Along with others, two important proteins expansins and xyloglucan endotransglucosylase are involved in regulation of cell wall elasticity, but the role of epigenetic mechanisms in regulating the cell wall related genes is still elusive. The present study was conducted with the aim of understanding the role of DNA methylation in regulating ZmEXPB2 and ZmXET1 genes. One salt sensitive and one salt tolerant maize cultivar was grown under hydroponic conditions at different levels of salt stress: T1 = 1 mM (control), T2 = 100 mM and T3 = 200 mM in three replicates. DNA and RNA were extracted from roots. After bisulfite treatment, Methyl Sensitive PCR was used for the DNA methylation analysis. It was revealed that fragment in promoter of ZmEXPB2 gene showed high level of DNA methylation under T1 in both varieties. Comparison of different stress treatments revealed decrease in DNA methylation with the increase in salt stress, significantly lower methylation appearing in T3. Similarly, the fragment in promoter of ZmXET1 gene also showed high levels of DNA methylation in T1. When different treatments were analysed, this gene significantly hypomethylated at T2 which continued to decrease in T3 in sensitive variety but remain stable in tolerant variety. Although, further in-depth analysis is required, our results demonstrate region-specific and genotype-specific methylation shift in the promoter of the ZmEXPB2 and ZmXET1 genes when subjected to the salt stress confirming the epigenetic regulation of these genes under stress conditions

The Impact of Leverage Variances on Growth: A Longitudinal Study of Pakistan’s Corporate Sector

    Get PDF
This study is an empirical investigation into the impact of leverage deviations from the target on growth of companies listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE). It is posited that leverage variance impedes the growth of firms. The role of leverage deviations from the target on firms’ growth is analyzed by applying dynamic panel methodology of firms’ level annual accounting data. The results indicate that size of the firm, profitability, collateral values of assets, non-debt tax shield, firm-specific interest rate and spontaneous finance are significant determinants of the target leverage. It is found that firms, seldom have actual leverage equal to the target leverage, and more often the actual leverage deviate from the target level. This deviation, adversely affects the growth of firms. The empirical results indicate that upward deviation and downward deviation affect the company’s growth, differently. It is concluded that over-levered firms’ growth is more sensitive to leverage variance as compared to the under-levered firms
